Unbearable Lightness

(installation)

25 Grimwade Street, Ipswich

December 2000

A room in an abandoned early 20th century domestic house. All light blocked out. This work plays on the relationship between technology and romanticism. An image of Tallulah Bankhead, one-time film star and a contemporary of this house, is cast onto a wall of redundant computers by an overhead projector which is placed on the floor, directly in front of a vast pubic triangle of cables that are as impotent as the computers themselves.
